January 20-21 in the Western Wallowas near La Grande. Field sessions will take place over 2-days from the Catherine Creek Creek sno-park.

Motorized AIARE Level 1 is a 3 day / 24 hour avalanche course specifically designed for snowmobilers and snow bikers focused on decision making in the backcountry. Participants will receive online pre-course learning that will take around 8-hours to complete.  A week before the course there will be a zoom session hosted by the course instructors.  Two full days will be spent in the field covering the fundamental aspects of the AIARE risk management process with respect to riding in avalanche terrain. Topics covered include preparation, planning, and execution of a backcountry ride based on avalanche conditions, avalanche terrain identification, hazard mitigation and safe travel techniques; weather; snowpack; stability analysis; and avalanche rescue techniques. All participants receive an AIARE 1 certification.
