Skied a sheltered 26 degree NE facing slope at 7100’ in the mount Howard area. Performed an ECT test and the result was ECTX. The snow pack looked right side up with light powder on the surface and gradually becoming more dense to the ground. There is a thin layer of older snow on the ground, but it was non reactive in the ECT test. Also, the thin layer of old snow was moist and appeared to be well bonded to the snowpack above . We observed strong wind loading and scouring in the upper elevations and stayed away from those slopes . The snow pit was 75cm deep. Great skiing.
