Observations

Did not dig pit. Overcast, light wind, lightly snowing. Went up the west-facing couloir just south of the Royal Purple Mine on East Peak . 10-30 cm of fresh snow from Feb 23-24 storm. This snow was on top of a breakable crust layer. Interface between new snow and old crust layer was not well-bonded, but I could not get any slab to fracture under my skis. I did not observe any cracks, whumphing, or natural slides in the vicinity. Crust layer had chunks of what appeared to be avy debris in it from an earlier event (maybe just lots of frozen roller balls and tree bombs?).
