Signs of Unstable Snow

Observations

Dug pit on N/NE (32°), slope angle 33°, elevation 7680, air temp -5°C, wind SSW app 20-25 mph, snow depth 2m, snowpack generally right-side up, low-density layer 65 cm, facets, Extended column test failed at 28 taps, no sliding of block (ECTN#28) Saw propagation test at 65 cm was arrested 30 cm into block (PST30/100(Arr) 65cm). No sign of any ice crusts.

South-facing slopes had multiple sun crusts in upper-layers, East face above Big Sheep had mini-cornice and obvious wind slab on rollover 2/3 way down slope. Good tree skiing
