Signs of Unstable Snow

Observations

Snowmobiled from A-Lakes sno park down to the Peavey Cabin. Snow depths around 7,000' measured 2-2.5', but decreased as we descended towards the cabin. A storm the day prior had deposited 3" of light density snow. On west-south aspects a stout crust had developed around 6,000'. We made an attempt to fix the A-Lakes weather station, but were unsuccessful. You may notice it has been recording temperatures over 100 degrees. We will keep working on a solution.
