SUMMARY:Art Center East Fundraiser for WAC
DESCRIPTION:ACE is again hosting its annual Galleries Fundraiser in collaboration with Wallowa Avalanche Center (WAC) to raise funds for WAC’s avalanche education programs and ACE’s Galleries Program. The fundraiser runs November 15 – December 10\, 2022. \nThe fundraiser is a raffle of eleven original works by local artist and avid outdoorsman Craig Canoy who passed away in 2020. Craig bequeathed his art collection to ACE for the organization to use for fundraising. \nMany of the beautiful pieces in Craig’s collection are his own work and many depict winter outdoor activities\, environments\, and landscapes in our region. \nRaffle tickets are $20 per single ticket or $100 for six tickets. The eleven winning tickets will be drawn December 10 during one of ACE’s December Sip and Shop Saturdays. The first winner will have first choice from the eleven artworks. As the subsequent winners are drawn\, each will select their choice from the remaining artworks. The pieces have a combined value of more than $3\,000. \nCheck out the gallery and purchase tickets here.

SUMMARY:Digging Deeper | Confirmation Bias in the Lost River Range
DESCRIPTION:Given the situation surrounding COVID-19\, it’s not looking like a good spring to attempt big mountain missions. But that doesn’t mean you need to sit at home like a bump on a log. Take advantage of the downtime—join us for the last installment of our Digging Deeper series via Facebook Live. Local backcountry ski guide\, Jonathan Pruess\, will lead a discussion on Confirmation Bias in the Lost River Range. \nIn the spring of 2019\, local skiers Jon Preuss and Sam Linnett had a close call when they triggered a large avalanche in the Lost River Range. Join JP\, Sam\, and Scott Savage from the Sawtooth Avalanche Center for a moderated discussion on their experience\, surviving an avalanche\, and the mistakes made leading up to the event. \nTo learn the takeaways from their story\, tune in on Wednesday\, April 8th at 6:30pm on the SAC Facebook Page for the Live Stream.
