It’s a celebration of the natural world\, and a reminder of the power of the human spirit. It’s a film that will leave you awestruck\, inspired\, and humbled. \nSaturday the 3rd we’ll be up at Anthony Lakes Mountain Resort for a full day of events.  The Kip Rand Memorial Race starts at 8am\, followed by two snow safety clinics at 10am and 1pm.  Wanderlust will be playing live music and rocking the Starbottle Saloon.   \nSunday the 4th\, join WAC staff for a ski tour into the surrounding backcountry adjacent to the resort.   \nAlso\, our online fundraiser will have a ton of cool gear and local merchant prizes to auction off. All participants should have some way to get to the class site\, which is a short distance from the lodge. (Skis\, splitboard\, snowshoes) The terrain is fairly flat. Clinics are planned for about an hour long. The registration links take you to a waiver to sign and that will complete the process. SUMMARY:Women's Snowmobile Clinic
DESCRIPTION:The WAC is hosting an all women’s riding clinic February 18-19th.  We have 12 spots open to the public on Feb 18th\, and 6 spots on the 19th.  This is an awesome opportunity for local women riders to improve their riding\, working with Nicole Sullivan aka “Marmot” and Lisa Granden.  Nicole and Lisa specialize in riding technique for all riding levels.  Join them for one day or both.  Cost is $225 per person.  You can pay via venmo: @WAC2020 or Paypal: @wallowaavalanche \nRequired: Please email Victor@wallowaavalanchecenter.org once you have paid so we can add you to the roster.   \nNicole (AKA Marmot) Sullivan based out of Wilder\, Idaho has been a backcountry snowmobiler for a little over two decades.  Over the past 22 years\, Marmot has represented  women’s specific  snowmobile gear companies\, lead and organized several women’s snowmobile rides\, and has obtained her Rec 2 Motorized avalanche certification\, with plans to continue avy education in 2023 and beyond.  Marmot’s highlight and passion each snowmobiling season\, is  coaching and teaching womens backcountry snowmobiling clinics.  For the 22/23 season Marmot will be participating in BRP’s wear the future program\, coaching womens riding clinics in Montana and Eastern Oregon\, co-hosting the Idaho Backcountry Ladies Ride in Stanley\, attending backcountry womens group rides\, and squeezing in a little freeriding with her friends. \nLisa Granden is an Idaho native who has 16 years of backcountry riding experience. She lives in the Sawtooth mountains and works as a snowmobile guide and teaches Sled Sister riding clinics. She co-hosts the annual Idaho ladies ride and spends nearly every winter day on a sled exploring new terrain or teaching backcountry skills. Her lifelong passion is being in the mountains\, and sharing the incredible experiences that nature can provide. Her ride this season is a 2023 SkiDoo Summit Expert Turbo 165\, and she’s always hunting for deep powder\, great tree riding and natural feature jumps. \nNote:  All riders need to have avalanche transceiver\, shovel\, probe\, radio and appropriate pack.  If you need to borrow some of these items let us know. \nQuestions: victor@wallowaavalanchecenter.org

SUMMARY:Art Center East Fundraiser for WAC
DESCRIPTION:ACE is again hosting its annual Galleries Fundraiser in collaboration with Wallowa Avalanche Center (WAC) to raise funds for WAC’s avalanche education programs and ACE’s Galleries Program. The fundraiser runs November 15 – December 10\, 2022. \nThe fundraiser is a raffle of eleven original works by local artist and avid outdoorsman Craig Canoy who passed away in 2020. Craig bequeathed his art collection to ACE for the organization to use for fundraising. \nMany of the beautiful pieces in Craig’s collection are his own work and many depict winter outdoor activities\, environments\, and landscapes in our region. \nRaffle tickets are $20 per single ticket or $100 for six tickets. The eleven winning tickets will be drawn December 10 during one of ACE’s December Sip and Shop Saturdays. The first winner will have first choice from the eleven artworks. As the subsequent winners are drawn\, each will select their choice from the remaining artworks. DESCRIPTION:Help us kick winter off right with a screening of Level 1 Productions’ Romance to help us support Sawtooth Avalanche Center! \nThis year we are working with a few of our more snow oriented neighbors to help raise money for the Sawtooth Avy Center. Surefoot and Door 2 Door Ski & Snowboard Rental Delivery have generously donated items that will raffle off after the ski movie at 7:30pm on December 4th. Sawtooth Avalanche Center and Warfield Distillery and Brewery will also include potential door prizes that anyone can win. \nStay tuned on social media to keep up with all of the prizes!\n@warfield_idaho on Instagram will give you the immediate skinny on all of our door prizes. \nTicketing starts at 6pm\, so get here early to procure the best seat in the house. We will raffle off all of the items after the movie\nAll tickets will be sold at the door the day of the event. The $5 entry also gets you 1 free raffle ticket.\nFrom there\, 1 ticket for $5\, and 5 tickets for $20\n100% of the ticket proceeds go to the Sawtooth Avalanche Center.\nAll raffle prize winners must be present to accept their prizes. \n— \nWe’ll be launching our 2019-20 Blue Light Special Promotion\, which benefits the Avy Center. Enjoy a cold beer\, inspirational images and tall tales from adventures in the Sawtooths and beyond. \nPresenters include:\nFormer Powderwhore turned ski mountaineer Noah Howell will be recounting his 29 hour odyssey on the 11\,000 foot ski descent of the Archangel Ridge in the Central Alaska Range from last spring. \nMountain guide and slayer Cody Hughes reports on his escapades of biking all the way to Alaska from Salt Lake City with all his gear and then climbing and skiing/ snowboarding Denali from the Muldrow Glacier. \nLocal Sawtooth backpacking guide and skier Amy David covers her journey of diving into Idaho’s backcountry and the steps she took along the way from a life-threatening ski crash to building an all-women’s outdoor adventure program. \nLocal shredder and avalanche forecaster Ben VandenBos will show us his database that he built up around last years deep slab avalanche cycle and how he dealt with it as a forecaster and a skier. \nNo ski event would be complete without a huge gear raffle and the Slide Show is no exception!
